Christmas with Children

November 28th, 2008 · No Comments

Christmas is a wonderful time for parents. It allows us to recapture the magic of the season and remember the wide-eyed sense of wonder every kid experiences at this time of year.  Christmas with children means letters to Santa, carrots for Rudolph, footprints in talcum powder all around the Christmas tree and an avalanche of gifts

Bring out the child in you and create your own Christmas traditions for your family. Whether it’s driving around the neighbourhood to look at Christmas lights, making your own Christmas decorations, or baking special once-a-year-only Christmas cookies, make sure you repeat the activity every year. Children thrive on routine and they will love the feeling of security family traditions bring.

Out of ideas? Have a look to see what other people’s Christmas traditions may be.

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Christmas food. Even if you have your annual favourites, why not browse this index of Christmas recipes to re-discover your childhood favourites.

Is this your first Christmas with the baby? While you may not be able to spend long hours at the Christmas table or at the beach, remember to mark the occasion: save the dummy or one of the booties the baby wore that day and throw it into the box of Christmas ornaments at the end of the season. When you see it again in a year’s time, you will want to hang it on the very top of the Christmas tree!
